FESTIVAL CUBANO IN MALAYSIA

Malaysia will be privy to a first of its kind event in this part of the world, a nationwide festival on Cuba aptly titled FESTIVAL CUBANO. The festival will be officially launched this evening by its Royal Patron, YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin ibni Tuanku Ja'afar.

Festival Cubano presents itself to give Malaysians a first hand insight to Cuba . It will promote an assortment of authentic Cuban food, music, art and some of the best products from Cuba . Organized under the auspices of the Cuban Embassy in Malaysia by the Trinidad Group of Companies, several special guests have been flown in from Cuba to participate in this inaugural event.

Master Chef Pedro Reyes has worked in some of the most prestigious establishments in Cuba and has been honored by the Cuban Government for his contributions to his field. Despite his busy schedule as a Professor of Cooking in the Cuban School of Hotel Management and Tourism, he has written a book on Cuban cuisine, “Nuestra Cocina”.

The festival will also feature a master cigar roller from the world renown factory, El Laguito, home of Cohiba cigars in Havana . YAIDI AMADOR MORALES is one of the youngest Cuban to achieve master roller status. She has performed her cigar rolling skills at many international events and has mastered the art of rolling some of the most difficult types of cigars.

In addition, one of Cuba 's most accomplished contemporary artist, Gilberto Frometa will be in Malaysia to present his works in several locations around th e c ountry. His artistic talent has brought him all over the world and his works has garnered tremendous response wherever on display.

Festival Cubano will be featured in Malaysia for over 3 months covering 12 cities and involving over 70 outlets around th e c ountry including East Malaysia . The Festival was conceived and put together by the Trinidad Group, agents and distributors for a variety of Cuban products including cigars, wines, rum, ice cream and coffee. Other major sponsors include VISA International, The Pacific Cigar Company in Hong Kong and Habanos , Cuba .
